Heads-Up for Parents: New State Law on Cell Phone Use 

Texas House Bill 1481 goes into effect for the 2025–2026 school year and requires all public schools to enforce policies that prohibit student use of personal wireless communication devices (including cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and tablets) during the instructional day.

What This Means:

• Students may not use personal devices during school hours.
• Schools must enforce policies that support a focused, distraction-free learning environment.
   

Schulenburg ISD is currently reviewing and updating our campus policy to align with HB 1481. More details will be shared before the new school year begins, but we wanted to provide families with this early notice so students can begin preparing.
