We believe every decision we make should ultimately support our students and the people who serve them.
That means maintaining high expectations for academics, providing meaningful opportunities in athletics,
fine arts, CTE, and extracurricular programs, creating safe and welcoming schools, and giving our teachers
and staff the resources and support they need to be successful.
We are also committed to continuous improvement. We will celebrate our successes while being willing to
honestly identify areas where we can improve. Our students deserve a school district that never becomes
satisfied with “good enough.”

The Shorthorn Way represents more than a slogan. It reflects how we want to serve our students, families,
and community, with pride, accountability, respect, hard work, and a commitment to doing what is best for kids.
Schulenburg ISD belongs to this community. Strong schools require strong partnerships between our students,
staff, parents, Board of Trustees, businesses, organizations, and community members. Communication and
transparency are important parts of building and maintaining those partnerships.

Lee Hafley proudly serves as Superintendent of Schulenburg Independent School District, where his leadership is centered on a simple commitment:

Mr. Hafley believes that successful school districts are built on strong relationships, high expectations, effective communication, and a willingness to continually improve. His approach to leadership emphasizes being visible and accessible while keeping students at the center of district decisions.
 

As Superintendent, Mr. Hafley works closely with the Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees, administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and community members to provide students with an outstanding educational experience. His priorities include improving student achievement, supporting high-quality classroom instruction, maintaining safe and secure schools, recruiting and retaining excellent employees, providing strong extracurricular opportunities, and ensuring the district remains a responsible steward of taxpayer resources.
 

Mr. Hafley is also committed to providing students with opportunities beyond the traditional classroom. He believes athletics, fine arts, Career and Technical Education, student organizations, and other extracurricular activities play an important role in developing well-rounded young people and preparing students for success after graduation.
 

Under his leadership, Schulenburg ISD continues to invest in its students and its future through improvements to instructional programs, technology, safety and security, facilities, and student opportunities. He believes these investments should always be accompanied by accountability, transparency, and responsible financial planning.
 

At the heart of his leadership philosophy is The Shorthorn Way, a commitment to pride, accountability, hard work, respect, and doing what is best for students.
 

Mr. Hafley believes public education works best when schools and communities work together. He values communication with students, employees, parents, and community members and encourages stakeholders to remain involved in the continued growth and success of Schulenburg ISD.
 

For Mr. Hafley, serving as Superintendent is about more than managing a school district. It is about serving people, supporting teachers and staff, creating opportunities for students, and helping ensure that every student who walks through the doors of Schulenburg ISD has the opportunity to succeed.
